Measles is an air born disease.
This means it passes from one person to the next via breathing the air. So besides immunizations, what might be one of the best ways to naturally help prevent measles spreading? The fact is, that immunized or not we are all are at an elevated risk right now. We all need to look for ways to help prevent measles spreading.
Did you know …hospitals in Europe use essential oils (concentrated oils from plants) in the air to help prevent transmission of disease from patient to patient? Or that in Europe, thieves were able to prevent contracting the bubonic plague by inhaling air that passed through fresh herbs and spices?
So what might be an effective way to help prevent measles spreading? Spraying something that can kill viruses in the air of course.
Preventing the spread of a disease via a mist is a popular concept. Chemical air fresheners such as Lysol, are commonly used to help reduce germs in the air.
How can a mist work?
Certain compounds naturally kill viruses, bacteria, mold spores and fungi. They can destroy them in the air or on a surface. Due to airflow, new germs are constantly arriving and therefore mists need to be used regularly in order to work. These effective compounds are called phenols. Phenols naturally occur in plants and are therefore, also found in essential oils.
Essential oils are a plants immune system, protecting it from viruses and disease. Therefore, no matter what essential oils you might inhale, they all can help support your immune system. This once again brings us back to the idea, that an essential oil mist could perhaps be one of the best ways to help prevent measles spreading.
Obviously some essential oils can work better for destroying viruses and germs than others. Some of the best smelling and safest are rosemary, cajeput, bay laurel, myrtle, and pine needle. Other highly effective essential oils rich in phenols would be garlic, thyme, and clove, but these can be very hard on sensitive systems.

Best Ways to Use a Natural Mist
Spray mist lightly into the air of your home and office, onto doorknobs and countertops so that the phenols can help to kill off viruses and germs.
Be sure to spray it inside your car and onto your hands after visiting the grocery store, school, or any other public place. This can help address any exposure you may have unknowingly encountered, especially while measles, flu or any other infectious illness is around.
