The mission of The Kaliana Company is to increase peace and joy in our world by increasing awareness and commitment to the importance of Emotional Care for empowering adults and children to experience happier, healthier, and more positive lives. This includes:

Kaliana Schmidt

CEO, Emotional Care Expert and Founder of Emotional Care Formulas... Kaliana's passion is empowering people to live a life that brings them joy and peace. In one conversation, she can change your life by helping you discover the gift hidden in a difficult situation. She is a Queens University Graduate, Presidential Scholar, and Certified Phyto-Aromatologist with a 30 year background in nutrition, aromatherapy, herbs, homeopathy, flower and gem essences, kinesiology, and vibrational medicine. In addition, she holds a 3-year Advanced Degree from the Mastery of the Heart School, and serves as an active Board member for the Eating Disorders Program, at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Dan Schmidt

Our talented COO... Meeting Dan is like connecting with a good friend. He instantly puts you at ease and helps you feel good about who you are. He is a Florida State University Business School Graduate very experienced in all facets of growing a business including sales, advertising, marketing, finance, manufacturing and management. With over 15 years in the packaging business working with giants like P&G and Coca Cola Corp., plus an additional 15 years running his own businesses, Dan is the perfect partner for Kaliana.

Nicole Kershner

Regional Sales Manager and Events Coordinator... Nicole has a great way of working with people and anticipating their needs. She is creative, resourceful, and makes organizing great fun! Her vivacious personality immediately puts you at ease with a smile on your face. Lydia Marshall

Media and Marketing... Lydia brings a sparkle to your eye with her wit and wisdom. Although she prefers being out of the spotlight, she is the engine that helps make our marketing materials and booklets come forth. She is a creative genius in her vision, design and eloquent words. With Lydia, the words that come to my mind are "I couldn't have said it better".

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Raymond O. Flagg, Ph.D.

Dr. Ray Flagg is a perfect addition to The Kaliana Company Board for both his love of nature and knowledge of the workings of a large, yet family run business. His brilliant wit brings forth great joy at every meeting. Dr. Flagg graduated with honors from Shepherd College in 1957 with three majors: Education, Biology and Foreign Languages, and earned a Ph.D. in Biology in 1961from the University of Virginia. In 1962 he joined Carolina Biological Supply Co. as Director of Botany. His primary focus there was on developing and improving materials for biological education of students of all levels. He became Executive Vice President of Carolina Biological in 2001, and retired in 2003 on his 70th birthday.

K. Michele Bryan

Michele was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Her southern charm and love of children make her the perfect addition to our Board. She graduated from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College with a major in Psychology. Michele’s professional history has involved various social work; including drug prevention with teens, group home care with teens, and corporate mediation with regard to smoking policies. She co-founded a non-profit organization, HopeSpring, which assisted teens aging out of social services care to lead successful lives. On a personal level, Michele has raised two girls and been actively involved in elder advocacy and care management. She also teaches parenting classes and consults as a parenting coach for families one on one. Michele resides in Asheville, loves horses and enjoys being outside in the mountains.

S. Jeff White

Jeff has been an elementary educator for 25 years and has a strong passion for seeing children succeed in every aspect of life. He developed and piloted a unique motivational system for classroom management. This system, "The Marble Contest", encouraged students to excel in achieving their academic and behavioral goals. It created a positive learning environment where students could be rewarded individually, in small groups, or as a whole class. As a result of implementing this system, Jeff’s class academic growth ranked in the top 1 percent in the entire school system. He lives in the country with his beautiful wife and 2 golden retrievers. He loves friendship, ping-pong, and horses.

Meet Kaliana CD

This delightful CD is from my visit with two compelling radio hosts - Rob and Brenda of Conscious Talk Radio and conscioustalk.net. I had a fabulous time. They focus on "radio that makes a difference"!

Kaliana loves working with students in the local community.

Kaliana offers our set boxes to teach team building to 3-6th grade students. We regularly sponsor interns, and produced her CD utilizing local talent Greg Strope, from the Carolina School of Broadcasting.

Our Illustrator

Each illustration was a labor of love created through numerous layers of color and techniques. Donna Geraci is not only a gifted professional artist; she shares her talent by teaching children how to visually express themselves through art.
